Happy to give it to the good' ol' folks over at The Mandarin in Laramie, WY - yes, Laramie, WY.After creeping across WY at 32 MPH because of a horrible windy blizzard, we finally reached some type of civilization. Due to the beastly storm both 80 and 287 were closed so we were forced to chill for the night. Wanting something local, I was happy to try some Chinese food in Wyoming.
This place is HUGE, probably 40 tables in 3 different dining rooms. We were the only ones there. For some odd reason they stuck us away in the back next to this awful air freshener (smelled like AXE). We moved to a better table; had the pick of the lot!
The service was absolutely awesome. I ordered the Orange Chicken and the Szechuan Beef. Before our food arrived they were kind enough to serve us some complimentary spicy cucumber and some chips of sorts. It always makes me nervous when food comes out too quickly, which was definitely the case here; perhaps 5 minutes had passed. But I guess Orange Chicken is pretty easy to dish up.
Was pleasantly surprised there seemed to be no MSG in the food. The portions were quite large, the rice was free and the prices were on point ($9/entree).
If for some inexplicable reason, you find yourself in Laramie, skip the fast-food, skip the chains, skip Cherrie's and head on over to The Mandarin - and don't forget to tell them you found 'em on Yelp!
